Tether RE Launches Tether Guardian, Bringing 24/7 Live Monitoring to a Wearable

A simple, voice-operated safety device for real estate offices, lone workers and seniors who live alone.

Twin Falls, ID | October 5, 2026

Tether RE today launched Tether Guardian, a wearable safety device that connects the wearer to a live monitoring professional with the press of a button. It is available now at TetherGuardian.com.

Tether RE was founded to protect real estate professionals where they are most vulnerable: at open houses and showings. From day one, 24-hour live monitoring has been the foundation of that service. Tether Guardian puts the same live monitoring into a wearable that can go anywhere someone works or lives alone.

“We started Tether RE to protect agents who are alone at an open house or meeting a stranger for a showing,” said Scott Martin, Co-Founder and CEO of Tether RE. “Since then we have added tools like Tether Safe Check, which lets agents run a background check on a client before they meet. But 24-hour live monitoring has always been the heart of what we do, and Tether Guardian brings it to anyone who needs it.”

How it works

When the wearer presses the button, or a fall is detected, they are connected to a trained professional at a UL-listed monitoring center and can talk hands-free through the device. The average response time is 9.4 seconds, and help is sent even if the wearer cannot respond.

Who it is for

  • Real estate offices. Keep devices on hand for agents heading to showings, open houses and vacant listings.

  • Employers with lone workers. Hospitality, retail, security, property services, home health and field service teams.

  • Seniors and families. Independence at home, with a Caregiver App that keeps loved ones in the loop.

Lone worker protections are growing

More states and provinces now require employers to protect people who work alone:

  • In effect: Washington, Illinois and New Jersey require panic buttons for hotel employees who work alone. Washington expanded its law on January 1, 2026 to cover isolated retail, security and property services employees. Cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle and New York City have their own requirements.

  • Passed and coming: New York will require large retailers to provide silent response buttons starting January 1, 2027.

  • Proposed: Bills have been introduced in states including Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

  • Canada: Federally regulated workplaces and most provinces and territories, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Québec, have specific working alone regulations that require check-in procedures and a way to call for help. Ontario, Nova Scotia and Yukon cover lone workers under general employer safety duties.

Real estate agents are typically independent contractors and are not covered by rules like these, but for the industries that are, Tether Guardian is a simple, ready-to-use option.

Key features: automatic fall detection, GPS location, IP67 water resistance, up to 45 days of battery life, and a Caregiver App with location and safety alerts.

“We’ve had Brokers and builders asking for something simple they can hand an agent or sales person on the way out the door” said Vanessa Martin, Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer of Tether RE. “Clip it on, and if something feels wrong, a real person is on the line in seconds.”
