Press Release: Battery Saver Feature temporarily Disrupting Background Monitoring Services

At Tether, we are dedicated to ensuring that our users have a seamless and reliable experience with our app. We are reaching out to inform you of an important issue that may affect your app’s performance when the Battery Saver feature is enabled on your device.

The Issue: Background Monitoring Services Disruption

When Battery Saver is activated, it limits the activity of background apps to conserve power. Unfortunately, this can interfere with Tether’s 24/7 background monitoring services. These services are essential for ensuring that the app can continuously track and send you important alerts, including proximity notifications.

Our background monitoring services allow Tether to run continuously in the background, providing real-time updates on your device’s location and nearby interactions. When the Battery Saver is on, these monitoring services may be paused or restricted, leading to a delay or failure in receiving critical notifications.

What Will Be Affected

The main features impacted by this disruption will be:

  • Proximity Alerts: Alerts that notify you when you’re approaching specific locations or other users will not be triggered as expected.

  • Background Location Monitoring: Continuous tracking and monitoring of your location will be limited, which may result in delayed or inaccurate location data.

  • Real-Time Notifications: Alerts, including proximity notifications, may be delayed or not sent when Battery Saver is enabled.

Why This Happens

Battery Saver is designed to prolong your device's battery life by limiting apps' background activities. While this is helpful for power conservation, it can unintentionally impact the functionality of apps like Tether that rely on background services to track and monitor real-time data. When Battery Saver is turned on, Tether may not be able to keep running its location tracking or send timely proximity alerts.

How to Avoid Disruptions

To ensure Tether works as intended, we recommend disabling Battery Saver or adjusting the settings to allow Tether to run in the background without restrictions. You can do this by following these simple steps:

  1. Open your Settings.

  2. Navigate to Battery or Battery Saver (this may vary by device).

  3. Turn off Battery Saver or add Tether to the exceptions list so it can run in the background without interference.

Our Commitment to Improvement

We understand the importance of uninterrupted monitoring and alert services, and we are actively working to improve the Tether app’s compatibility with Battery Saver modes. Our goal is to ensure that even with Battery Saver enabled, you can continue to receive accurate and timely proximity alerts, background tracking, and real-time notifications.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to enhance the Tether app experience. If you have any questions or need assistance, our support team is always available to help.
